April 9, 2009 ..12:23am..
Well, its been a long couple of days. Almost hit a fucking deer on the way home from Fredericton today, I swear those animals are the dumbest things on legs. Fucking stupid creatures, and they are so hard on themselves too...you hear about more deer getting hit than any other type of animal.
Alright, so I get home, and I want to buy some chronic...so I head to the weed spot, to go pick up a couple G's...and I had one of those "unreliable dealer" experiences that are so much fun. First, dude wasn't home - understandable, sure, everyone's got shit to do..so I go for a cruise and wait for a bit, go buy a donair and kill some time. I also call the dude's cell - voicemail, of course. But I'm thinking at this point that he shouldnt be too much longer, so I linger around his area for just a couple minutes to see if he's around. He is not. So, naturally, I move on to my next idea of where to get some herbal remedy, which was another 10 minute drive to get to. I get there, his girlfriend answers the door and says "Oh, he just went to play poker at 4..but its 6:30 now, he should be back any time." I'm just thinking Yeah, lady, like I'm gonna wait with you. Anyways...
But, dude pulls in the driveway at that moment, to my surprise. He hops out half drunk and shouting at his girlfriend, or wife, or whatever. Then he aggressively chases her into the house, it was like I wasn't even there...I mean, he looked right at me, he saw me...but paid me no mind.
I waited outside for like 3 minutes in the car. Then I was like fuck this and left to try the other buddy's cell again from a pay phone. He answers, then he gets two words in "Hello? Who is--" Then his phone dies, or something. I was like "Fuck! My GOD what does a lad gotta do to get some fucking cheeba around here? Holy hell!"
I eventually gave up. My time is too precious...
On the way to my aunt's we stop for some gas. I'm pumping it, and I notice a truck pull in behind our vehicle to pump some gas as well...who gets out, but a guy I went to middle school with in another city for christ sake, a dude I ain't seen in like 6 or 7 years named Ryland. He recognized me though, and we talked for a minute or two while we strolled in the store to pay for the fuel. I mentioned how much trouble I'd had all evening trying to score some greenery...and he said "Seriously? I got a whole trunk full."
No way. Dude gives me like a quarter bag for thirty bones. Thirty bucks! Sick deal, I thought. Funny how today turned out in my favor. See, that's how I know God put marijuana on Earth for a reason...in fact, He won't even let me get away with NOT buying some! He just throws it in my pocket, and hooks it up too! Thanks God. I love you.
I'm starting to like this blogging shit. It's kinda fun, really. I don't expect too many people to read it really, its probably boring as hell to everyone except for me lol. Anyways, it is what it is.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring to write about? We shall see. Goodnight !

Royce da 5'9 - ONE OF THE BEST!!!
Royce Da 5'9 is forever proving to me that he is one of the greatest hip-hop emcees, ever. His lyricism is phenominal...the way he tells a story, straight to the most important details only wit a few extras for flavor. Check these two new-ish videos of his, both directed by Rik Cordero:

My Debut Solo Album
Hello again...I'd like to speak about my solo project. I've been working on this sunuvawhore album for going on 6 years now, give or take a month or two. I have written and produced over 300 songs for it in total; and changed the name of the album at least 8 or 9 times. At first, I was simply going to call it Da Nemesis Attraction, but that bored me, so I eventually settled for a while on Investing In Corruption, bordered around a theme based on Bruce Lee's ENTER THE DRAGON flick. I got tired of these wearisome titles and moved on, and being a steadfast fan of the Matrix trilogy, decided to call my solo album The One. Simple enough, right? Wrong. After a year or so of this, I called it off due to it sounding too 'simple' and 'plain'. Which IS true.
So now it comes down to this: I have more than enough songs to create this album...but at present, no place to record these songs. Bottom line: if these songs don't get recorded, they stack up on top of eachother and become obsolete in time, and thus good songs are erased before they are ever even created. We don't want that. WE NEED TO GET JODY A SPOT TO RECORD IN!!! ASAP. If anyone knows any studios around, or has a home studio, for fucks' sake hit me up would yas. I've only recorded 3 songs in 2 YEARS!!
___________________________________________________________
Some of the songs that were cut off the album throughout the years: Take You Out, I Love It [Hip Hop], In My Heart, The One, Pump/Break, I Think, Lady Love, Take You Out Remix (ft. Catalyst) *this one actually did get recorded at one point, and nominated for an ECMA {East Coast Music Award}.*, Luv Wuz Made [Just 4 U], S.O.S., Open The Door, All Tha Lonely People, etc.
Some of the songs I kept on the album, continue to work on or have recently made for the project are: Sleep/Dream, Just U, Grand Theft Album, Drift Away, In Your Mind, Up In Smoke, etc.
For other releases/projects (the DNA/Monark joint, compilations, mixtapes, etc.) : Makes No Difference, U Best Run, Woman & Man, The Ultimate, Instinctz, In The Beginning, Krazy Toonz, I Like The Muzik, High, In Love So Much, ...But I Know I'm Good, Y.O.U., I Chooz U, Crowd Star, Instant Luv, etc.

After all these years of making music, you would think I would have at LEAST one studio album completed. NOOOOPE. Instead, I've got 6 amateur LP's [Welcome 2 Rivercity, Respect Ya Peace, Lacknowledgement, Double Helix Lyrix, and two untitled ones], the album and mixtape I did with MC Catalyst, tentatively titled "The Con-Science EP + Mixtape" (the first 10 tracks are the EP, produced by myself and Juliano - the last 8 tracks are all industry-beat recordings for the mixtape, we just released it all on the same disc and went ahead and let people get all confused anyways.), there are a number of mixtapes I made [The Rivercity Tapes Vol. I & II, The North Side Mixtape, etc.] plus a couple fuckaround releases called The Freestyle Sessions (2003-2009).
So, yeah...I have LOTS of released material - but NONE of it, I repeat, NONE of it, is "real" to me. They have no barcodes on the packaging. Matter of fact, there IS no packaging. I have no manager...I have no booking agent, no promoters. I don't have a distro deal with any stores or labels or anything. I don't have a lot of things...but what I DO have, is a shit load of music that I don't have a clue what to do with, and it never stops pouring out of me at top speed - I have got WAY more music and creative material than I know what to do with.
As of right now, I'm working on setting up my own home studio.
I have a relatively nice desktop PC:

This is my Acer.
It works extremely well, despite the horrible things I have heard about Acer products. It's got a pretty extensive hard drive capacity (500GB), its processing power is quickfast (3GB RAM). It's got a real nice video card [not that it has much to do with making music, its actually an audio card I need]. Only problem is, I need another keyboard and mouse; and they must be USB connectors. Other than that, computer works awesome.
This is my Apex condensor Mic...I traded 5 of my extremely
old beats that I made like 5 years ago at LEAST for it. I mean, its not the most expensive condensor mic on the market by FAR...but its something I've needed and wanted for years now, so it feels good to finally have something I've needed for a while.
I haven't tried it out yet though; I hope the quality is decent.
Props to Mahoney on that hookup! Word.

Here is my Behringer mixer...I'm not a big fan of it, really. But its all I've got to channel my sound through. I dropped the fucker recently and now something rattles on the inside if you shake it (not that you SHOULD shake it lol), but it does still work alright. I've tried my other mics, my dynamic mics like my Shure SM 80 and my AKG's on it, and they seem to even gather half decent sound from it, so meh. What can ya do?
And these babies here, these are my turntables. Numark TT1625's, they are a basic setup, but they ARE my first set, so they'll have to work for now. They do the job, anyways. I've just recently begun collecting more vinyls....I actually still need to buy needles or cartridges or something for them, my little cousins were fucking with them one day when I was at work and broke the needles off. Kids + electronics = NEVER good.
Aside from a few cords and wires, that's basically all I have at the moment for a set up...I hope to construct it all this summer and get shit poppin', but only time will tell!
I'm TELLING you though...as SOON as I get 'er setup, it is ON! I will be a fucking hermit for the next 5 years, mark my words - I'll be putting put an album once a week MINIMUM, no joke. When I used to record at home, I would record a song before school, write at least 5 verses at school, come home and make beats until supper time, eat supper, go back downstairs to the booth and make about 5-10 songs out of the lyrics/beats I made that day. This was a daily occurrence... I miss those days. Back when weed was grass! LOL

Monday, April 6 (4:32am)
Today I came to Fredericton. I got a drive with a friend of mine, Mitch, and my cousin Darcy rode shotgun - we listened to beats I made during the trip over. I showed them some of the newer songs I've been toying with and working on, and they really liked it, I think. Mitch makes music using software and programs as well, so we shared that common ground for music discussion. It was a pleasant drive, all in all. Smoke, rap, smoke, smoke, rap. Stop, pee. Smoke, rap some more.
We arrived at my mother's apartment on the North Side of town at about 9:30pm, I went inside to greet Mom and to call up Jarrod to let him know that I had just rolled into town, and asked him if he wanted to link up. We met about half hour later at the Wendy's on Main Street, he picked me up, hooked it up with a JBC (hold the tomatoes, bitch! How many times do ya gotta TELL those cats?) and we cruised to his crib, listening to more beats in his car stereo. We arrived shortly after, I gave my salutations to his girl and we wandered downstairs and got rather fried. We stayed down there in the smoking basement for a couple of hours, and wrote to some beats made by myself and by SOUL from Toronto - we ended up officially settling on using my newest beat that I made yesterday, titled "Astro Phonix". Apparently ATCQ used the same sample as the one I used for the intro of the beat, but I had never heard their version so I couldnt judge. Jarrod said mine was flipped very nicely anyways, so I don't care, I'm using it regardless.
In the end, I managed to squeeze a hot 16 bars out of my seemingly-shrinking brain before it started to get late and time for Jarrod to gimme a ride to my Mom's crib. We parted ways and made plans to see each other tomorrow to resume the shooting of his 2nd video for the song "Illamentary", which is the title-track off his debut solo album. Check the song out at: www.myspace.com/mistermonark
I ate some chicken alfredo for a very late supper, and spent the remainder of the evening chilling with Mom before she went to bed (we went for a short walk down the street too to get some fresh air, it wasn't bad out at all really). After she went to bed, I just stayed up web-surfing and checking emails, rearranging certain music pages of mine, revamping my primary MySpace page ( www.myspace.com/rivercitysfinest ) and getting a new Bio section done up for it. Now, I have smoked my very last cigarette, I'm still high and completely exhausted, I felt the need to start my blog out with this entry, whether you slicksters find it interesting or not. I say good day!
