My studio is split sort of into areas, in a way. It doesn't appear to have any separatism to it, but there is. When you first walk in, on the right of the studio room is the really big piano, the one that took 13 large guys to carry into the studio - pretty big piano, lol. Next to the piano area is the turntablism/DJ area, where my Numark TT1625's are all set up lookin' pretty with all their colorful green and red lights. Between them is the DM950 DJ mixer that came with them in a 'battle pack', I believe it was called, or something. A pair of 100-watt Panasonic speakers accompany the 'tables, as well as 3 small surround-sound speakers, 2 of which are positioned on top of the larger Panasonic 100w's, while the 3rd rests on top of one of my PC monitors.
Next area is the mixing/editing area, where my Acer Aspire desktop computer plus all its' components/hardware/extras. On the computer desk is the computer tower, Creative Real-time webcam, a 20-inch flatscreen monitor, a older white 21-inch Philips monitor covered in Transfomers & skateboarding stickers, D-Link wireless adapter, external DVD burner drive, 2 external Hard Drives (one 500GB, the other 250GB), 4-port external USB Hub, SD Card Reader (usb), Gateway speakers, USB keyboard & wireless mouse, Bamboo graphics design pad/pen/mouse setup, wireless internet router, an extra internet router, and one of my mixers (the best of the 3, the Peavey PV8 USB mixer, the interface my condenser studio mic hooks into) - also on top of the PC tower is the external 'Backpack CD-Rom', donning atop it the small Behringer Eurorack UB502 mixer, which my AKG dynamic mic is plugged up to. I also have a drum pad and drumsticks that extend from the desk to the left of where I'm sitting, so I can just play a sample and bang out a quick beat pattern to it for quick drum & rhythm ideas - it really comes in very handy lots of times. Below this drum pad is the 3rd mixer, the Behringer Eurorack UB120FX, a nice mixer that I have yet to really use much thus far.
To the right of my computer chair at the mixing/editing area is my new Casio CTK-4000 usb keyboard. This rather large digital keyboard has hundreds of sounds, tunes, rhythms and effects built in, with USB 2.0 connectivity to my studio's PC as a MIDI device, absolutely AWESOME for adding extra things to my beats and songs.
Moving along, we have the vocal booth (opposite of the entrance door to the studio), with a frame made of wood, soundproofed with carpeting on the outside and thick bedding foam on the inside, including its roof. Push aside the draped Bob Marley flag which serves as the booth's entryway, and inside is the Apex 435 studio condenser mic that i use to record vocals with, perched securely and neatly on the black microphone stand I bought recently (the first mic stand I acquired wasn't compatible with the fittings of the condenser mic's shock mount, how it screwed on was all wrong in dimension so I picked up a new stand, a much, much better one), complete with silver shock mount, pop filter and wind sock. The inside of the booth also has pegs to hang the Sony noise-canceling headphones used while recording vocals, or your necklace chain, or whatever. The inside of the vocal booth's roof has got magnetic LED lights mounted, pointing down, so that you have more than enough light to read written lyrics by whilst recording your stuff, they are motion-controlled - a wave of your hand shuts them all off simulatneously and conveniently. Between the vocal booth and the next area is my Citizen acoustic guitar, in its case, complete with picks, a tuner and a capo.
In the next corner is where the small CD player is, and all of my CD collection. This is where the dude goes who just showed up to the studio late and hasn't even written his verse yet - we send him to The Corner. One can just pop the cd with the beat on it into the cd player, put on his headphones and start writing without bothering anyone, so that work can continue in other areas in the meanwhile. The Corner is also where I keep my Smoke Box, a bread box thats got all sorts of little ganja gadgets, rolling papers and so on - BUT - NO SMOKING in the studio, ever.
Beside The Corner is the writing area, a really wide oaktop desk with all the lyrics I ever wrote atop it, as well as stacks of magazines of all KINDS to read (mags about computers, audio mixing, rap/hip-hop, marijuana, medical marijuana, TIME, Maxim, couple porn mags like Playboy, Penthouse & Hustler, Heavy Metal graphic comics, etc.), a nice Circa Clock, all my sunglasses, a chess board with a nifty drawer in it to put office supplies and small things I need day-to-day, my pencil & sharpie holder, a basket of random stuff including some smaller instruments like a couple kazoos, a marocca, my tamborine, harmonica and the spoons, a camera, bunch of shit in that basket. Beside this writing desk is a 40-inch television to play video games & watch DVDs on, and a bookshelf full of great books behind the TV.
*** So, that's pretty much everything....if anyone wants to come record some vocals, let me know and we'll arrange something! And don't try to break into my studio, the door is securely locked and both windows have motion sensor alarms attached to them - if a window is either opened or broken, the alarm goes off and automatically notifies my home security company and the authorities. I am also purchasing metal bars to install on the windows for extra security measures. And if I catch you breaking into my studio, I will cut both of your hands off on the spot with my big fucking knife I keep hidden so you can't steal from anyone again.***
